Over time the pointing between paving slabs cracks, crumbles and washes out. Weeds push through, water gets underneath, and the whole patio starts to look tired. Most of the time the slabs themselves are fine. What they need is new pointing.
Repointing means removing the old, failing pointing between the slabs and replacing it with new. Done properly, it makes a patio look close to new for a fraction of the cost and disruption of relaying it.
